Late Adulthood - Introduction

Welcome to Week 9 of Introduction to Human Development! In this module we look at the final stage of lifespan development: late adulthood. 

Although society might generally regard this stage of life as a period of physical decline and emotional despair, late adulthood can also be seen as a time of integrity, wisdom, reflection and spiritual fulfillment.

In the following pages you will learn about the physical and psychological characteristics of ageing, whilst also exploring the ways in which different societies might treat their elders. We will also look at the concept of 'successful ageing' and what that means to you.
